Goldenrod (Solidago): A Medicinal Plant for the Urinary Tract

Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) is a recognized herb in European phytotherapy for the urinary tract. It combines diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties.

How goldenrod works

Goldenrod promotes urine output, is antispasmodic and mildly anti-inflammatory. It is traditionally used for flushing in urinary irritation and to prevent kidney gravel.

How to use it

  • As a tea or standardized tincture
  • In flushing-therapy cures
  • Combine with plenty of water

Caution & when to see a doctor

As with any flushing therapy: do not use with edema from heart or kidney insufficiency. With fever, blood in the urine or severe pain, medical assessment is needed – goldenrod does not replace treatment of a bacterial infection.

FAQ

What is it good for? Mainly supportive flushing of the urinary tract.

How long to use it? As a cure over several weeks, with enough fluids.
